Since NCWorst (sorry *cough* Soft) had the bright idea of moving servers to a US Central location, you may have experienced the following:
No, your gear has not been downgraded, if your ping (/ping) is over 100 then you may feel like it. You may want to use a proxy. Information on the forums indicates that this does not violate the TOS. You may either pay or use a free service. I have started using Battleping BATTLEPING for lower ping. Say goodbye to high ping and enjoy a low game ping. a free service that has brought my ping down from over 300 to anywhere from 70 to about 130. I select the closest server (in my case Washington D.C.) instead of Texas. If you decide to try it, it is very straightforward to use - I use it with my firewall with no issues. |

I have known about this since the CBT/Launch and used it a few times. I did forget about it and didn't know it was still free. Thanks for sharing Cali!
EDIT I'm using this now and it's lowered my ping by 100ms. I usually play at around 180ms - 300ms, but now I'm at around 75ms. Thanks again Cali! Last edited by 0462usa; 08-11-2010 at 05:59 AM. Reason: Update |

Hi
It wouldn't help if I told you- I'm not in the US- this is the issue-geographically I'm routed through various servers- if you're outside the US your ping is going to suffer. My actual download speeds are fine otherwise since I have an internet connection that is mostly fiber-optic, and will (hopefully) be all -fiber optic when that is supported (presently up to last 300 m). I get routed through multiple servers, it isn't a direct route (North- South) to the NCSoft location. You can trace this is ever you're interested.
