Default crashing? this might help

So, I've seem to have been crashing like every 5 min in highly populated areas. Mainly eltnen fortress and fortress sieges. I know some people might say.. "your computer sucks then, cause my game runs great". Well its not the computer believe me. I keep my baby up to date with its insides. And a lot of you who are crashing probably have good-great comps. Well I did some searching and tweating and here is what I did to my comp to fix the problem (or so it seems fixed, havnt crashed once)
1. Turn off UAC (user accoutn control). Instructions to do this are in the link bellow.
How to disable UAC | Windows Vista for Beginners
2. Run aion in windows xp compatibility mode. Link below to do this.
How to run pre-Vista programs in Compatibility Mode - Compatibility - Lifehacker
The next 2 might not work but could also help.
1. If you have an ati video card it could be getting to hot. You can make ur card turn the fan on sooner to cool your card. I would supply a link but cards probably difer a bit so do a google search for fan speed/percintage for your card.
2. Tweak down some vista visual settings. (Yes it makes vista look worse but could improve performance)
Go to control panel. Choose system. Click on advanced system settings. Then choose advanced tab. Click on settings button under performance section. Check and uncheck stuff and play around with these till you reach a visual setting that is ok for you. The less that is checked the better ur computer performance can be.

Well, I hoope this helps atleast 1 person. Yes its pretty basic info for anyone who knows anything about computers. But maybe someone out there can use this info.

Well after crashing tons of times in Eltnen, finally did all this and it seems to have helped so far... will monitor tomorrow, but it certainly seems to have fixed multiple crash issues... thanks a bunch, Slyter,

Rune

Default Another thing

Well, after posting the thread i remembered doing something else i was told might helped. i just couldn't remember what it was. After some research i figured it out.

1. Disable superfetch
click start. on the search bar type services. Click on the services icon. go down list to superfetch. Double click on superfetch. Click the disable button. Click stop if it is running. Hit apply then ok. Then close the services window.

Again. not sure if this helps.. but im still running fine with no crashes.

Thanks for this post, just yesterday I started crashing in Eltnen and the Abyss main town.. and was like WTF.

My system is a beast, and I checked my heat levels thinking it was that at first, while the vid card was abit hot, nothing that should make it crash.

Core i7 920 OC'd @ 3.2ghz
6GB Tri-Channel DDR3 1600mhz
EVGA GTX 275 Vidcard 1,792MB

and...

Vista Ultimate 64 <---- die, cant wait for legit Windows 7 in 15 days.

Edit - Nope, still crashing.

Sorry to hear
Again I'm not sure if all this is what corrected it. Also try the repair option in the nc soft run program. Maybe after changing some of the access stuff in vista made the repair thing work right. I'm not realy sure. All I can say is keep trying. Somehow I was able to fix mine. Still havnet been to a siege yet since I fixed it but everywhere else is fine. Havnt crashed in a few days.
